Photos taken with my mobile the night the exhibition went up .they are reflecting me taking photos whilst reflecting on the year & the exhibition !
I’ve been unable to get back to take photos  since it went up due to a nasty cold & chest infection & now the snow & ice are here !
I have to go out today & I’m not keen on the icy conditions, much rather stay in and knit …. on the needles at the moment a 4row pattern repeat lacy scarf for my daughter.

The exhibition is up

Yesterday afternoon a friend helped me to put up the knitayear exhibition. With the assistance of the Slate volunteers it is looking fab !

The exhibition is in the windows of the council & next to the library in Leytonstone, East London .

http://www.slate-arts.com

The windows have boards which slot into place, so each board has to be placed individually.I had a rough idea & had practised laying it all out on my living room floor but i didn’t know if the boards would hold the weight of the journals so we had an experiment on the day.I’m pleased to report that the use of fishing line, knots & banging in of nails they are up & looking great !

The exhibition has the year of knitting pinned up, the journals, photos ,,extract from the blog, balls of upcycled yarn & knitting needles hanging.

In the final  window are an excellent poster designed by Veronica Lindsay-Addy.which is promoting the carers group we are launching in 2 weeks !

I’m going back today to take photos so will post them later.

now to get the shopping & domestic chores out the way & then relax………………

Tomorrow is a new day & I shall approach the pinning with a smile & definitely work on it at a table to spare my back

A day of mixed media & fabric

image

Today I’ve braved the bitter cold wind & been to Walthamstow.I spent a lovely 2hours at a mixed media art course being run at The Mill, a community space & library.
Followed by a poke about the charity shops & the purchasing of 2metres of an unbleached cotton fabric to sew the knitayear piece onto ready to exhibit at Slate.so right now my front room is like a yarn workshop … must leave room to sit on sofa ..

video knitting last day of the year & almost cast off

This is a video of me knitting the final day of the year,The whole year is hung up in the library for the E17 Art Trail & was lowered for me to stand & knit the last sections.I cast off all but the last 2 stitches, which i saved to knit at the talk.

I knitted using recycled sari yarn…the same yarn that i started the year with.
