Today I’ve braved the bitter cold wind & been to Walthamstow.I spent a lovely 2hours at a mixed media art course being run at The Mill, a community space & library.
Followed by a poke about the charity shops & the purchasing of 2metres of an unbleached cotton fabric to sew the knitayear piece onto ready to exhibit at Slate.so right now my front room is like a yarn workshop … must leave room to sit on sofa ..
I am on a quest for a piece of material to display the knitayear piece on.
To hang the piece at Slate i need to attach the piece to some material in order to drape it over the boards, which are quite tricky to move & slot into space as the venue is using the windows from the council’s former advice centre.
To attach & drape is the( relatively ) easy part……choosing the type of material is quite another matter altogether.Walthamstow market…here i come
This is a video of me knitting the final day of the year,The whole year is hung up in the library for the E17 Art Trail & was lowered for me to stand & knit the last sections.I cast off all but the last 2 stitches, which i saved to knit at the talk.
I knitted using recycled sari yarn…the same yarn that i started the year with.
I’ve been hanging art in the trees in walthamstow.some of my own ,some by my partner & some special pieces made by sormarela in Canada.
Photos of the happy people finding cards & hearts.more photos & video later on today.
Got to eat & rest now before finishing the knitayear, giving the meet the artist talk, going shoping & finally bed.I’m do tired today.
